Three separate attempts were made to free the defeated but still functional robot from the wall with no luck. It is now a permanent feature of the building. The owner of the apartment whose window was broken was allowed to remove the leg, however, provided they do it a quickly as possible.
Regretting its actions, it would spend the next several years trying to put the other one back together. Having no knowledge of robot anatomy, eventually it ended up with a vaguely cube shaped mass. Once it saw itself in a mirror the only thing this cube could think to say was “You know, I wouldn’t mind if you put your feet up on me occasionally.” And so, from then on, it would become a semi-sentient ottoman. A robottoman.
During the X-241’s manufacturing process it was found that not enough material had been assigned to the robot’s treads. Since each had only a certain amount of material allocated to its formation, it was decided that the extra material would have to be taken from the top of its foot. When asked if this would pose a problem for the robot, the chief materials scientist remarked “I can’t imagine how it would come up, it’s still tougher than most things it’s likely to encounter… the only way I could see it becoming a real problem would be if one decided to step on the other’s foot, but I mean, it’s not like they’re going know about it.”
“Hey buddy, why so glum? You look like you could use a hug!”
The other robot says nothing.
“Oh come on, everyone likes hugs!”
It opens its arms wide. The other robot looks over and smiles
“There we go, I knew you couldn’t resist.”
